My husband loves this coffee pot. The problem is, it is a little sensitive. He was washing it with a brush and barely bumped it on the sink, and while it did not break it did put a large crack around the carafe. We are very careful while handling it, primarily for the reasons listed by other reviewers, and we've only had it about 6 weeks. Maybe the glass is a little thin or not tempered properly? Either way, be careful while washing it.
I was very pleased with the carafe we received. We had the original when we purchased the coffee pot new...this one is even better! It feels like sturdier glass and everything works perfectly with the original coffee pot (no spilling or auto stop drip issues). The coffee pot was expensive when it was new and the minimal investment of a new carafe just extended its life even further!
